Reflection #987,768,023

What did you learn?
My path for my future throughout this semester has become clear.

How did you learn in?
The obvious answer to this would be through internship, i have gained an better understanding of the field i want to go into after college. The awareness of the troubled economy triggered by blogging and lessons has made me think about my future how will things be. how can i change them for my kids in the future? How will i get to college through times where funding is low? I never thought about those things before the lessons in this class. I also realized that although biology is my favorite subject and i want to be a dentist when i grow up i really enjoy writing and i can see myself writing for the school paper or taking another humanities class in college.

Why is this important?
Personally i think working just for a grade isn't as good as working for a reason. I have no problem working for no reward if i see the bigger picture after asking "why". its important to look at the bigger reward and that for me is my future. I already see working paying off in my writting draft by draft i could see my paper becoming better and better. I'm really proud of my article and this project reminded me again of why its important to show yourself that you CAN do anything when you work hard at it.

Reflect this and that

1. Overall, when you think about the big picture of your writing, what improved? How did it get better? Why?
The area that i did the most improving on would have to be getting critiques. Normally my mentality was like "i wrote it, its from the heart 3 critiques are okay but its good the way it is" but i realized even the best of the best writers go through many drafts and listen to others. Im not naturally a productive listener...but its all a learning process.

2. Overall, when you think about the big picture of your writing, what still needs work? What do you think will help you improve? Why?
I still think my headline is horrible. Its improved but it still could be better but after going through 20 headlines it honestly was my best. A headline is what draws the reader in i honestly think its the most important part of the paper. And i couldn't get it right so to me it messed up my whole paper.
3. Specifically, show us something that improved and describe the path it took to get better. You can quote your article, your drafts, link to evidence, etc.
Honestly i can see the improvement from draft to draft. But the real improvement in my writing is a mystery. I wont fully know how i have improved until i write and critique my next paper. My personal improvement isn't clear to me in my writing, however i can see my critiques on other people's papers have become more relevant. So i know im learning something because I'm becoming a better critiquer.
4. Describe something specific (or a few things!) that you learned about writing.
I learned that when you are in a class, it is a community of learners. Your teacher may always have the answer, but regardless you should put faith in your fellow citizens of the class and ask them too. That makes them better teachers which helps them learn. It also helps you so that when somebody comes to you, you can share your knowledge with them. i think this makes sense comment me if you would like to challenge my statement.

Magazine Reflection

1. What went well for you during the process of creating this magazine?

I think getting a one-on-one critique session with Karima was the only thing positive i got out of this project. It improved my paper a lot more and watching and listening to what she had to say was a lot more effective than passing my paper around to kids around the classes and just getting it back.

2. What challenges did you face as you moved from an early draft or idea to a final product?

I had a hard time staying focused because the project was just so long and too dragged out to me that i just cant stand it anymore. especially because from the beginning i said i didnt wanna do a magazine in the first place next year if we have to do a magazine im really going to think outside of the box to see how to make it different.

3. What other examples of work—student and professional—stood out as exemplary and served as a good model for your own work?
I really liked Wyatts layout for his paper whoever did it. I felt like it was clean cut and stood out as a pretty page. I didnt read his article but im sure people would

Photo Essay

“when I grow up I want to be a baby doctor” at the time I didn’t know the official title for my goal was OBGYN. I remember saying this when I was 5 years old to my mother. Yet here I am. In the 11th grade, a junior at High Tech High Media Arts and beginning to think about my career path. Since I was 5 I have changed my goals a numerous amount of times, lately I have been thinking about the field of dentistry. At my school every 11th grader was given the chance to choose their internship. And given the circumstances I chose to work in a dental office. As it turns out I loved it! My favorite thing to do was prepare trays for the Dentist, it was nice knowing I contributed to the office and helped get the job done faster. I have accomplished an ample amount during my time spent at internship.

During my immersion Dr. Stevens (my mentor) taught me how to do fillings and crowns. I was able to do a tooth colored filling on a false tooth and I made a temporary crown on a clay mold of a mouth. Out of the work I did my favorite part was taking the mold of the tooth to get the temporary prepared. As I mixed the two putties together I felt as if I was in kindergarten once again it was moderately fun. When I looked at my final product I was not pleased with it even though my mentor said it was good for my first try. It was just that to me “good for a first time” not GREAT. But the mold came out almost perfect so I carried it around with pride that day.

Working with teeth isn’t the only thing I got to do while at internship. Since I was considering designing their new ad for their office I learned how marketing was important for business. During my lunch breaks I also realized how businesses could help each other survive. Dealing with our current economical crisis some dentist has been struggling because of the lack of dental insurance and people losing their jobs. Without money or insurance, a visit to the dentist is overlooked. In order to get business you must advertise your company and to draw in customers this office in particular gave people the “ New Patient Special” and because of their location, their advertising, and there special prices there able to build up a business in such a bad time economically.

With businesses thriving it was interesting to see that other businesses could actually help each other. During Lunch on days I was at my internship I realized I had a variety of places I could eat at most times the business was slow so I had a short wait but one day I was at Panera and saw a girl give a discount to a neighboring store employee then I thought to myself “this company probably is making profit right now, it seems as if the economy hasn’t even effected them as I would expect.” But as I realized how many companies have offices at liberty station it dawned on me that it was other companies who were keeping this particular store a float. And if every company looked out for each other we could grow as a nation.

At the end of the day the dental office is built off of education, relaxation, and communication. Everyday politics, science, and personal relations are all brought into the office but the main key to a successful office is balance. The office was such a vibrant place to be, full of happiness and joy. When it came to crunch time everybody knew how to handle a challenging task. Life in the office is pretty much…life. One action can affect a lot of different aspects of your work environment and knowing that I learned this through internships as a high school student makes me confident in myself to be thrown into the real world of work. And I wouldn’t trade that opportunity in for anything in the world.

Contribution

1. What article(s) would you like to write for the magazine? What photography could you contribute? Art? List three different ideas for your major contribution.
  • Editorial on my experience with internship
  • student guide on what not to do during your internship semester
  • editorial on picking internships
2. Suggest at least one (or more) possible title for the magazine. This could be a title with or without a subtitle. For example, I work for UnBoxed: a Journal of Adult Learning in Schools.
  • Internships Uncensored: Student driven magazine revealing the truth about internship.
3. Suggest a topic for an article that you were personally like to read in a magazine inspired by the internship semester.
  • I would enjoy reading the steps and tools it takes to get a good productive internship and make it fun.

Internship Reflection

How could immersion impact your experience as a student?

I feel like internship made me see the bigger in my goals and it made me feel like some of the classes i take are worthless. Yes some math is helpful in being a dentist but it isn't all complicated like the stuff i'm learning and it kind of made me feel depressed that i was sitting here wasting my time with an unnecessary class.

Although it made me feel like i was wasting my time it made me see that with hard work and determination your goals will be met eventually even if you take a long unnecessary journey there it will be met. I loved being in a work environment such as the office i was in even if i don't become a dentist it helped me know what i want in a work environment. and talking to my mentor taught me how to get there, he still had to take math in college luckily for him he was strong in math however even if my personal best is a B or C as long as you score high on the DAT you are all set and i am good at stuff when im passionate about it which is what im excited about.

immersion just left me all confused. but it definitely changed my views as a student.

confusion

1. What are you most excited about in regards to your immersion experience? Why do you feel this way?
I am most excited about seeing a full day in action in the office.from beginning to the near end. I am excited about getting my project started during these 2 weeks and challenging myself with my internship even more than i have already been challenged.
i feel this way because its easy to just sit around the office when there aren't any patience but i will work on my project when were slow.

2. What are you most concerned about (what causes the most stress) regarding immersion? Why do you feel this way?
i am most concerned about my project i keep talking to my mentor about it but hes not really telling me if my ideas work for him and stuff... he just keeps saying YEAH SURE but im just going to make an ad i guess ill see whats going on.

Progressiveness of the Progressive Era rough draft all the info and stuff

of the four constitutional amendments that were adopted during the Progressive era my favorite 2 are the ones that involved, giving women the rights to vote and how women led the fight to make alcohol illegal even before they were given rights to vote.

I think that progressive era

What blogs are out there with outstanding examples of:

1. Economic advice to Barack Obama?
http://chandlermhood.blogspot.com/ "All companies with an annual revenue of $500 million or more that choose to sell their products in America must base at least 10% of their manufacturing workforce in America."
I chose this quote because chandler seems to really have his facts together. In his plan he gives a solid plan with percentages of his goals and it seems well thought out. I also noticed that he quoted a president for his historical referance "During his first inaugural speech, FDR said, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself..." " and the way he connected it was strong, he ended his letter to obama with hope for the american people!

2. Literary Analysis?
http://dagneyy.blogspot.com/?zx=ecd6f79551dfb2e3
Out of dagneys whole literary analysis i think that the ending is what stuck out the most to me because she wrote it in a way where she could simply have the end be the whole paper. she just tied it all in. "The theme of The Great Gatsby is that despite all of the luxuries that money can bring, losing sight of the people around you can be fatal. This theme was creatively displayed using a number of literary devices, including irony, allegory, and symbolism. "

3. Historical Writing?
http://jlucer0.blogspot.com/2008/09/gun-control.html
"The decision had been based on the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. According to the article, Justice Antonin Scalia states that the Constitution protects a citizen's right to bear arms and that the ban is a direct violation of the Second Amendment"
She states a fact of history and then she makes the direct connection in your face and clear to understand. I really like this quote because it sounds aggressively smart....

4. Anything else that makes blogs great?

Darwin

what responsibility do we have for the understanding of science?

Well from my understanding of the article darwin questioned how everything worked to realize that humans weren't the only complex beings, also of humans we have a certain complexity. and if we understood how everything worked we could co-exist. He was caring about all living things and i think he just wanted everything to be healthy and happy.

What role should scientific inquiry and scientific knowledge play in our own society?
Well with a better understanding of ANYTHING you can make things better. With a better knowledge of how stuff works within genetics we can help cure or treat a lot of dieses like sickle cell anemia or downsyndrome. Knowing how other living things work can help every living thing. Like if we use solar panels and hybrid cars we are helping all of the enviorment and we know that because of the new technologies and the enviroment.

How should science influence our decisions, laws, and culture?
It should influence us to preserve life on earth and influence laws to encourage people to preserve the life. And finally the culture of a place can be determined by there environmental status. For example the US might be more advanced in Industrial stuff and give off a lot of CO2 emissions and then a random country might have people living in a jungle in a Forrest using the natural resources and giving back to the earth. The culture is different and it effects the decisions and laws.

BAM.

The Bell jar

bell jar Pictures, Images and Photos
In a timeless tale of a young woman journey to find herself and her place on this earth, Sylvia Plath is known for exploring the story in an almost biographical fashion (her father died just like Esther, and She committed suicide just like Esther attempted) . Throughout the story Sylvia uses Limited narration, Similes, and metaphors to show the thought process the insane Esther is challenged to go through.

The story is told in a way which puts you in her brain throughout the whole story, when her brain has lost interest in a subject or gets distracted you can see that as she runs off on tangents. And you never really get the other side of any story here, its completly based on her observation. However you do get the inside scoop on every other character and see them as she sees them. One example would be in a paragraph where esther lays out the tension between Doreen and Betsy she quickly states "Betsy was always asking me to do things with her and the other girls as if she were trying to save me in some way. She never asked Doreen" in the following paragraph Betsy asks Esther to join her cab, and esther declines because she knows how doreen feels about it. Another example of how she unfolds the story for us would be at the end of chapter 7 she tells Constantin that Buddy broke her leg. To the reader that is such a random piece of information but by the end of chapter 8 you realize she has just shared the story of how buddy broke her leg and that she is telling the entire story in a scrambled manner. Towards the end she ends up in a hospital because of her state of mind and suicide attempts, there is one particular part where the nurse specifically asks her not to look in the mirror and of course esther did. When she looked in the mirror she didnt even recognize herself, until she cracked a smile. then the book says "I listened to her with mild interest. Anybody could drop a mirror i didnt see why they should get so stirred up." Not only did she break the mirror in such a calm manner but she didnt understand that it wasnt normal? So the thought process of this woman is mind boggleing.

Sylvia is apparently very fond of similies because even in the first few chapters she uses them so much. In the second chapter she says "His boots echoed like pistol shots." She also uses sentances like "Evaporated like the tail end of a dream" or her description of alchohol "but it went straight down into my stomach like a sword swallowers sword and made me feel powerful and godlike." I think that the main character being a professional writer, her brain is expected to think like this kind of analysing everything using images and descriptive language to show the reader what there getting at.

And finally metaphors. This book seems like it has a lot of uncovered metaphors because her brain is everywhere. Throughout the book esther talks about marriage, sex, children, household things a woman of her time would be expected to want. (her mom was a child during WW1 we know this because esther tells us as she explains her mom speaking german 1914-18, so the time esther is in now should be around the 1950s). It is clear that esther likes to write, she states it in this quote "...Id be a professor and write books of poems or write books of poems and be an editor of some sort" and yes she repeats "write books of poems." However she is known for thinking she wants something but not being sure from when buddy proposes to her "If neurotic is wanting two mutually exsclusive things at once and the same time, then im neurotic as hell. Ill be fluying back and forth between one mutually exsclusive thing and another for the rest of my days" So these two facts led to the really bringing out the fig metaphor to me, because after she tells the story of the fig tree later she brings ot up again and says "I saw my life branching out before me like green fig tree in the story." as if she couldnt choose which direction she wanted to go to because she had so many choices.

This book can leave you with a lot of thought provoking questions because of the complexity of her thinking process, like why does the story start off in the middle with the execution or why is it backwards with chapter 7 and 8. Is her dad dying effecting her perspective of men or does the thought of being a housewife turn her off because she cant be a writer at the same time? However it is amazing how a simple story of a life can be so much more complex when you get into the brain of a mentally ill emotionally disturbed woman.

obama

Hi mr.obama
recently you have decided to cap of a salary CEOs to $500,000 but i honestly think it should be less than that. Not only do they make more than you and their job isnt nearly as important but they get paid more than doctors, teachers, firemen, and people fighting in the war. And here are people monopolizing the industry having people below them do work while they just move money around. And when its time for a bailout they use the money frivoliously as everybody else panics.

I think your stimulus plan can be going towards the right direction as long as you keep it on track and create jobs for people that provide a lasting economic impact as japan has taught us. The economical crisis we are in now even puts us at a state of financial instability just like the last ones in 1873 and the 1930s. Too many people are left jobless.

Also please take in mind the federal reserves act which was " to establish a more effective supervision of banking in the United States, and for other purposes." what happened to that? who was watching our money, make sure you check over the people looking over our money. Please mr.obama dont just give the money to executives that dont need it. I think your being to friendly cap them at 200,000 thats more than enough! the money needs to be distributed amongst small businesses that help the environment and economy as a whole. not just the top.

design principles

* Specific*

-Personalization-Specific and detailed questions that arent too long. Questions that get straight to the point. They be thought through very well and have a good choice of words. Should also be open ended to avoid "yes" or "no" answers. Also stay on subject:

WALLACE: Let’s discuss immorality.

MORSE: One moment. In Russia, I realize you’re put in jail or you’re liquidated if you criticize the head of state, but I hope the time does never come in this country that the Senate of the United States will not remain that Parliamentary body in which an elected official can tell the American people a criticism of a President or anybody else that he thinks ought to be criticized.

WALLACE: No one really, none of the Senators – and I read the record – suggested that the President should be above and beyond criticism. They rather, took issue with what they called the manner in which you did it, and the words poor taste were used many times, but let’s discuss immorality …

" How did you feel when you read about the three heads of the auto companies taking private planes to Washington?"

Personalization

- Dont keep the interview so strict and awkward, comment in between to make it more conversational and this will naturally spark more questions . It will also make the person your interviewing seem more comfortable and relaxed. You can get more information when you make it conversational too.

example:

FROST:(interviewer) So what in a sense, you're saying is that there are certain situations, and the Huston Plan or that part of it was one of them, where the president can decide that it's in the best interests of the nation or something, and do something illegal.

NIXON: Well, when the president does it that means that it is not illegal.

FROST: By definition.

NIXON: Exactly. Exactly.

"

* innovation*

- You should never go into an interview without at least finding some information, background information. So that way when you are coming up with questions they wont be commonly asked ones, instead they will be more interesting questions and that will make the person your interviewing have more to talk about.

WALLACE: (interviewer) In the Senate last Wednesday, Senator, you said as follows: You said, “this administration is honeycombed with political immorality.” End quote, Wayne Morse. You said this as a Democrat. When you were a Republican you said the following: The Democratic Administration is honeycombed with corruption and malfeasance in office. Same message, virtually the same words. Different parties.

MORSE: And I proved it to the President at that time and what did the President at that time do? In December 1951 he offered me the Attorney General of the United States to help clean up some corruption that had crept into his Administration. Quite a difference, isn’t it?

WALLACE: Well, my question, the question I’d like to put to you is the one that Republican Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona asked on the floor of the Senate. He asked you, he said, “what does it take to please the senior Senator from Oregon?”

BEST INTERNSHIP EVER!!!!!!!

TODAY WAS SO GREAT! i got to drive to my internship with my mom so i could used to the location so i can drive by myself in 2 weeks. When i got in i said "HI IM ASHLEY THE NEW INTERN" to the lady at the front desk and i was immediately greeted by everybody in the office including the doctors mom! i had a great day!

I got the internship by going to lorens dentist appointment. I saw how friendly the workers were and i thought "WOW I NEED TO BE HERE!" because it was so friendly so i kept in contact with the doctor and set up an internship.

I went to trader joes for lunch but i couldnt find anything so i just ate popcorn and some chocolate milk. which is horrible because popcorn in your teeth is like a dentist nightmare. but whatever because i didnt even get to eat it cuz my mom let me drive! so i didnt eat anything, but right after my dad took me to this vietnamese place next door with the best noodle vermicelli pork stuff. oh my gosh it was to die for i need to go there every tuesday!

After this my dad took me to the school to wait for my mom for an hour to pick me up and take me home i actually just got home because my mom made a few pit stops.

Everything went great today, i got to assist a little and learn everything. Today i got to pass a UV light thingy to the dentist so that it could bond the tooth colored solution filling by drying it fast. got to pass the dentist a mirror to so he could pass it to the client. I got to watch him put bridges in and analyse some crowns and stuff. I got to look at x rays and analyse them with the doctor and the patient. I eventually can take the x rays myself! im excited. Yeah today was great i had a lot of fun and i cant wait for thursday!

HIGHLIGHT OF EVERYTHING I LEARNED TODAY:
a woman came in to have her teeth look nice to impress her boyfriends mother. Dr.stevens looked in her mouth and pointed to a bridge. he immediatly said "WHAT COUNTRY DID YOU GET THIS DONE IN" and she replied "AFGANISTAN" its crazy by looking at something he could tell it wasnt how we do things in america. it was because the crown had a gap in it and nobody in america would ever do that because it leaves so much space for bacteria to build up. today was pretty awesome

Eisen"OUR WARNING!"

It is known that history often times repeats itself. And that the great leaders of yesterday can know what to be cautioned for tomorrow. In 1961 Dwight Eisenhower warned to the future leaders to be cautious of the relationships getting closer between our own government, the armed forces, and industrial support for weapons. In 2003 George Bush declared war to Iraq, and everything Dwight Eisenhower warned went out the window. From the 1961 farewell speech, and the 2002 beginning war in Iraq, to our current stage of questioning as a nation and blog writers of today.

It was 1961 and Eisenhower's term had been served it was now time to give a farewell speech. His speech was historical. It was this quote that stuck out to me as a clear warning which Bush should have taken heed.
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."
This message clearly forewarns the future presidents of America not to get too involved in the 3 way relationships of Government, Industrialization, and Weapons. Because if the 3 come together it can be a dangerous amount of power in all the wrong hands. Because doing business with companies who make money off of going to war, would only lead to a rising hunger for money which leads to a rising need for the fight. And that was Eisenhower's message in 1961, who could ignore this precious piece of advice?

In 2001 George Bush and Dick Cheney(former CEO of Halliburton) had become President and vice president. This was the year Cheney’s financial report disclosure stated that he had 3 stock options with Halliburton (which is a company who at the time provided military logistics support) that compromised 433,333 shares. By 2002 Cheney made an agreement with Halliburton that they could go to iraq to pump and distribute oil, by February 2003 it was a no bid signed contract. This was before the war was declared. After the war in Iraq was declared in March 2003 by September Halliburton had already made 1.7 billion dollars in contracts from the US government.

Why did Cheney make the agreement with Halliburton before the war even started? The answer could be a number of different things, but in the end it has shown that is all because of money. Going to war meant Halliburton got to sell weapons to the military, and if Halliburton made money Cheney would make money off of the shares he had with Halliburton. Leaving the military to fight numbers rising in the death count of soldiers in Iraq. And now leaving our country in a depression. This deal with Halliburton and the War was made with Cheneys knowledge but how was this Bush's fault that he didnt listen to Eisenhower?

Simple. Bush wanted to gain money too, also bush is the president this all could have been prevented if he said No. and he didnt. put the blame on him while cheney gets a clean break. thats the game of politics, everybody for themselves.

DEAR RANDY LOL

OBAMA!

"Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions, who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short, for they have forgotten what this country has already done, what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose and necessity to courage."

1. Why did you choose this section?
i chose this section because it gives you a reassuring sense of hope and goals. It takes a look at history and proves you can also achieve what you want. And that dreaming big for a purpose is the way to go which is why he mentioned your imagination. kind of how barney taught us to use our imagination to go the places we can go.

2. How do Obama's words relate to the everyday life that you know and understand?
On Sunday i went to a church and my friends grandpa asked "Dr.King had a dream, Obama had a dream, what is your dream! its time to WAKE UP and achieve it" this was a message i will never forget. 2ndROUGH ROUGHTdraft

Sam Cooke's "A change is gonna come" and Hurricane Katrina are directly connected because they both brought racial issues to the surface of American culture. In the song Sam Cooke says "...I say brother help me please but he winds up knocking me back down on my knees" which is a perfect example of the victims of hurricane Katrina being neglected by the government. With Hurricane Katrina no action was taken before, little action was taken after, and a questionable action is being taken now.

From the 1950's to the 1960's the civil rights movement was at its strongest point in history. In 1963 Sam Cooke was denied the right to stay at a Shreveport Louisiana hotel he previously reserved all because of the color of his skin. Because of the injustice he refused to be turned away and was wrongfully arrested. 2 months later He released the song "Change is Gonna Come" after listening to Bob Dylans "Blowin' in the Wind" which is also a song expressing discrimination. "Change is gonna come" was used as the Civil Rights anthem because it expressed the pain of Blacks in America so poetically and passionately.

42 years later and had change come? not exactly, yes Blacks and whites could now swim together, eat together, play together, get married, etc. But there was always a subtle sign that discrimination still existed. In 2005 Hurricane Katrina opened the eyes of many Americans to the neglect of minorities in America and the racial tension rose. George bush failed at helping when it was a little too late by not being proactive when the day of 9/11 he responded fast even though he didn't make a good decision it was A decision.

After the disaster many families were left homeless, jobless, and helpless. Some families were lucky enough to get a small trailer but others had nowhere to go. At one point fema had a yard full of trailers and didn't give them to the victims. Some victims that did get housing were later moved around way too much. To this day people are still displaced, in an USA today article a victim expressed "I'm just going to keep fighting to find a place to live," the 55 year old had been moved five times in three years by FEMA. this is the story to many families. The whole situation was handled way to non nonchalant and Louisiana is still in really bad shape.

What is to become of the future race issues? Will things be changed because the color of the presidents skin? or will they always be the same? has change really come to America?

roughest rough thing

Thesis: Sam Cookes 1963 flawless, effortless, and timeless tale of the civil rights movement "Change gon Come" has been so captivating it feels as if the struggle is still just as hard. Often times there are reminders of the struggles that do still exist. Hurricane Katrina was a real eye opener for a lot of Blacks in America. No action was taken before, little action was taken after, and questionable action is being taken now (years later).

A Change Is Gonna Come - Sam Cooke

BODY PARAGRAPHS:
When the levies broke, it hit real hard. The government didnt let people know the levies had broken until a little too late and had not fully prepared the citizens for the tragic event. For those who could afford to evacuate, did so. Those who couldnt were left to fight through the storm.

However even AFTER the catastrophe had occurred Bush still had a slow response, people were in the domes for days with little food and many sickness's running around.

Conclusion: To this day people are still displaced in a USA today article a victim expressed "I'm just going to keep fighting to find a place to live," says King, 55, who has been moved five times in three years by FEMA" this is the story to many families.

The Flip Flop...

As far as the article annoucning bush's new way of protecting the sea life goes i am not quite sure i am buying into the fact that he only wants to help the enviorment. The first article mentions that he always had a preferance for protecting the sea rather than the land humans live on. But why now? i think he wants to leave on a very positive note and have something to look back on with pride. Im not sure why now or why he only cares about the sea? i think he may be hiding something, maybe he wants to "protect" the sea and not allow anybody on that part of the sea and start an offshore drilling company. Or maybe he actually is improving on being a president. Who knows? maybe he is tired of being the bad guy...only time will tell...and by time i mean 2 weeks!

The second article was a bit different and was more of a look at the past and present and a view into the future. It mentions bush had goals of us driving more energy effecient cars during his term but that was a counterproductive goal because he ended up supporting the "not so energy effecient" companies rather than what he promised america. It is obama who is now making the promises and the world can really change if he keeps all of his promises. Or it could look a lot like bushes terms if he doesnt. But this article really magnifies the flaws in bush's tactics with running an enviormentally safe country. Reading this article made me question who in their right minds would reject so many nice ideas and let america fall apart? why did he make so many of these horribly thought of decisions and why didnt america just empeach him? I am a little confused with the overall message in the first article but after reading the second article i know one thing. Bush isnt right, and fixing one problem still will not make him a good man. But he would have never known that if he hadnt tried so i cant knock him for i.

He is being a flip flop when it comes to the main issue of enviormental safety..i guess him and kerry have more in common than they expected.

(the computer im using wont let me link everything like i want to but when i say the first article i mean the one talking about bushs new idea and when i say the 2nd article im refereing to the one where they are comparing him to Obama. and the size of the photo will be fixed i just cant do it on this computer)

Internship Goals and Expectations

I would like to learn how to be friendly with people and keep my friendliness when they are rude because not everybody in the real world is nice. I would also like to learn how not to give up when the going gets tough. also how to deal with the more boring parts of a job.

I want to learn how professional i really am. Because there are times where i feel like an adult with responsibilities but i always have reminders that I'm a kid like when i wanna give up or when i talk to much or chew gum. just simple things like that. but most of all i would like to see if i would actually pursuit a career in dental health.

My main goal in this is to build a really good relationship with the "outside of school" world. I want to be able to go to the dentist i intern with actual questions about college and everything that comes with being a dentist and have a comfortable place to talk about their job built off of my hard work and real interest.
